You might have been directed here from the @foodqueenhoney Instagram account, where I've been sharing my photographs from the UAE and from COVID-induced isolation.
Food Queen Honey is the name of an old Yemeni honey shop in the heart of downtown Abu Dhabi. Coincidentally, it’s also located next to a one-man photo studio with a clunky Dell PC (oh, the charm) where I develop my film sometimes. A friend of mine from uni used to joke around that my nickname was Food Queen Honey because I used to run a food column, and somehow it stuck. I like the memory attached to it, and that it pays homage to the AD streets and their quirky shop names, like Nice Lady Abaya, and Happy Friend Saloon.
Here are some pictures Food Queen Honey has let bloom in my photo projects.
